The person who is doing the cookout is going to have to go out of his way to bring an extra grill because obviously the main one is going to be covered in meat. It causes an inconvience for the cook and he just doesn't want to deal with all that just for one person.

All I can say is it's good you told her how you felt about her and let your feelings be known. She gave you an answer and you have to accept it and move on. It's happened to me too and as for me I learned a lot and actually felt more confident about myself . I also remain friends with the girl and we have fun hanging out.
