There is actually a completely sound set of rules for why these two words don't rhyme. Baked is a one syllable word comprising of a base word "bake" and a suffix "-ed". "Bake" follows basic pronunciation rules (the 'e' at the end controls the vowel 'a', giving it the long sound because it is preceded by a 'k' which follows the "e, i, or y" rule) and the suffix "-ed" can be pronounced as /ed/, /d/, or /t/ based on the preceding letter. As "bake" ends in an 'e', we follow the rule of removing the final 'e' to add the suffix, making 'k' the preceding letter which means that 'ed' will be pronounced as /t/. This means that the sounds of this word are /b/ /ā/ /k/ /t/. In contrast, "naked" is a multisyllabic word following a vcv pattern for division. We divide the syllable after the 'a' and before the 'k', meaning the first syllable is 'na' which would be an open syllable as it ends in a vowel. This syllable's sounds are /n/ /ā/. The second syllable 'ked' is a traditional closed syllable,

I think they mean it actually says "the same thing but in Arabic" instead of saying "create your perfect night's sleep" in Arabic

I normally don't comment on posts, but I do have a Masters in Language Acquisition and currently writing my defense for a PhD in Human Development so this comment sucked me in... Developmentally speaking, you change the most over the course of your first 24 months of life (or 2 years). It is standard practice to reference age in months for children under 3 because 4 months is actually a very significant amount of time during this period of life, especially in terms of language development (which this post is specifically referencing). If this child were older than 2, it would make sense to start speaking in terms of half years. If they were younger than 3 months, we would be stating their age in weeks.

No, this is not a good thing. It seems like a sweet gesture at first glance, but it indicates a real problem in his life. This kid is used to having to be a caretaker for adults in his life. He is not being allowed to have a childhood. Children who have to be responsible for the adults in their life develop severe issues as an adult themselves. It would be totally different if he wasn't also having to allow his mom to sleep on his hand, but the reality is that this poor child is probably having to raise himself.

Not really a blunt hitting thought TBH. They use this exact verbage in literacy courses for teachers. Learning to read = decoding and phonics skills for K-2, reading to learn = comprehension skills for 3rd and up.

Wait; we get breaks during recess?! Awesome! I guess I can just leave my class to fend for themselves tomorrow. I'm sure at least 75% of them will make it back unscathed.....yeah, probably won't have a Hunger Games situation going on or anything....aw crap, I still have to go out there and be on duty, don't I?

She was fired! It says she didn't remove the scarf herself, but as an educator she should know better. The sheer number of classes I was required to take in cultural socialization of children prior to getting my licence tells me there is no way she didn't know this was not okay.

Decade 1 =1900-1909
Decade 2 =1910-1919
Decade 3=1920-1929
And so on until decade 8 begins with 1980
Year 1 of the decade is 1970, so 1978 would be the 9th year

Anybody else picture the joker actually getting ready for the day? He has to wake up at some point with no makeup on right? Can you just picture in your mind him holding his eyeliner? It makes me laugh every time. "Oh fuck, it's too perfect. I want to look 'casually messy' not like I did it on purpose!"
