For some people it is. Everyone experiences things differently.

I said they don't do it *often*. There are few cases in comparison to the amount of trans people that there are. Sometimes I see someone say "as a trans person I think *something transphobic*" and it doesn't seem legitimate. Sometimes they might do it just for clout. Sometimes someone is just questioning and eventually decides that they aren't trans. But we can't go around being suspicious of everyone, aggressively questioning their possible motives.

@creativedragonbaby There's a difference between giving a label to yourself and trying to label everyone else. There's a lot of historical figures that we think may have been trans, for example the Roman Emperor Heliogabalus. They seem to have been by today's standards- they offered vast sums of money to anyone who could give them female genitalia. But we can't just put a label on someone who didn't identify themselves as such. There's nothing wrong with creating new labels or trying to document well known ones. There is little to gain from internet clout and a lot to lose- posts like this prove that there is much to lose in terms of internet clout. People don't pretend to be trans often because being trans is rough, even in progressive countries.
