Washing yourself with just water isn't completely hygienic, and neither is paper. Women, for example, have a greater chance of contracting a yeast infection if they only use water. The humidity creates a nice environment for bacteria and other organisms.

Considering the dance can be seen as a date, saying yes would technically be leading him on if she felt otherwise. Being a lady isn't about whether you accept or decline an offer, it's about how you go about the situation. Making someone feel obliged to go on a date with someone they're not attracted to, or risk not being seen as a "lady", is rude and can be upsetting. Someone should have the right to say no to a situation without the risk of being looked down upon.
