There is a compound in broccoli that is bitter but not everyone can taste it.

Those things are an absolute god send when you have a migraine. Just turn on the active noise cancelation and bask in the silence.

Yes, but calling Panda Express a Chinese restaurant is like calling Taco Bell a Mexican restaurant. Technically somewhat correct, but not really the same thing. Never been to a PF Chang's so I can't attest to that one.

It's actually pretty rare for doctors to prescribe sildenafil for blood pressure because most insurances don't pay for it and when they do write for it it's always the 20mg (Revatio) not the actual Viagra (50 or 100mg)

You can always find a Q on a Wendy's sign (their motto is "quality is our recipe") or billboards for antique shops. X is super easy, it's on every exit sign. Altho, some people exclude really common road signs to make the game harder. Y is pretty common, and I usually find Z on a Pizza Hut or Auto Zone sign.

The best diet is one that you can keep doing for the rest of your life. People use really restrictive diets and loose a lot of weight, but just gain it right back when they stop the diet. So chose a diet you can live with and stick to it. Your weight might come down a lot slower but you'll keep it off longer.

It was actually quite common for early chemists to taste the compounds they created. Although, probably wasn't the smartest thing to do.

In Finland, PhD's are awarded a sword as a symbol to defend what is right and true 7 comments

They don't really get awarded one. It's just part of their graduation ceremony regalia, sort of like our cap and gown. They have to buy, rent, or borrow the hat and sword. https://www.oulu.fi/confermentceremony/the_hat_and_sword

This is a nice idea, but it doesn't actually work. The scientific studies on these specialized fonts show no improvement of reading performance or speed.

I used to be this way with my healer cooldowns. Then I started PvPing a lot and was essentially forced to use to them if I wanted to live. After that it was a lot easier to judge the best time to use them in PvE.
What are the chances that they're also gers? 20 comments

The chances of someone looking *exactly* like you are so low that it's almost impossible. The chances of two people sharing just 8 facial metrics is 1 in 1 trillion. Granted those are metrics that are defined by facial recognition software. The reason some people look similar to us is because of the way the human brain processes faces. For the most part it uses facial patterns, the height, width, & distances between features, not the shape of individual features. Then, if that pattern matches one in your memory or if you're consciously studying a face, it analyzes feature shape. That's why the more you look at a set of "doppelgangers" the more different they start to look. Or if you're very familiar with a face (a spouse, for example) you can more easily see the difference. Now, if you are just talking about similar faces and not exact matches, and don't have a truly unusual face, that claim *might* hold true.

Explains why I loved jumping on a trampoline when I was a kid. Especially when my brother was on it with me. He was a lot bigger than me so he'd time his jumps to launch me super high. So much fun.

The chip companies need to get together and all make a chip bag with as little air in it as possible, so that when these dumb fucks buy them they can see for themselves that the air is in there for a fucking reason.

Idk, I don't think it's that unreasonable to expect a multi-billion dollar company to actually test a phone for design flaws. Especially one they want to charge almost $2k for.

Studies also show that exposure to green space has mental health benefits for adults as well.

Scientists call it green space but it doesn't necessarily have to be green, just any natural space. Also, the studies included proximity to parks as well.

They also have to deal with the founder effect. They were founded by a relatively small population and were quite isolated. Thankfully they kept extremely accurate genealogical records and so were able to avoid inbreeding for the most part.
