no, a mammal is a class of species. frogs are amphibians, and yet they are an animal.
natethegreat · 6 years ago
All of them still count as animals.
I know it's weird an confusing, but even ants are considered tiny animals.
They actually feel the same sadness we feel.
captainjackharknes · 6 years ago
No, not with the complexity we do. They lack most reasoning skills.
natethegreat · 6 years ago
That's irrelevant even if that's true.
captainjackharknes · 6 years ago
Okay so we're all dumb fuckin animals. Let's just throw away things like morality, and technology, because you know, we're literally the only ones on Earth currently to have these things, like computers. We might share some physiology but that doesn't make us them, or vice versa.

Animal is a biological classification. It doesn't have to do with intelligence
captainjackharknes · 6 years ago
Yes, but nate here, is saying that animals are equal to essentially. They may have feelings, but we are still more important. I wouldn't let a human drown to save a pug.
natethegreat · 6 years ago
Considering what we done to this planet, some people might be inclined to say that we are definitely NOT more important.
This is one of those things where it's honestly more like an opinion imo
captainjackharknes · 6 years ago
So are you saying we should just kill a bunch of humans? As in, the most intelligent species on Earth?
natethegreat · 6 years ago
Depending on who the human is, I just might save the pug. lmao
Coming to the realization that your an animal shouldn't mean abandoning all the progress we made, but rather be amazed that we, "dumb animals" were able to figure all this stuff out in the first place. You should be proud to be a human, the smartest (debatable) animal alive right now!
I, personally, with this in mind am just so blown away and impressed with out advanced we have become. Almost unbelievable.

I think you should calm down, my friend.
I can see that I must have struck a nerve somewhere, I'm not trying to "minimize" our status as human beings, but to get people to realize just how amazing we truly can be.

At some point, another species might make complex tools. Are they animals then? Or will they forever be animals because they're not human
natethegreat · 6 years ago
Still animals. Wouldn't be too different from humans.
"Or will they forever be animals because they're not human"
???
Humans aren't exempt from animal status no matter how smart you think you are.
That's the problem with lot of people.
They see themselves as superior over every other form of life.

Are you a vegan?
natethegreat · 6 years ago
Nope.
creativedragonbaby · 6 years ago
Ok.
I feel as though people would take apes using tools as a threat, and some people would stop them from reaching a point where they can easily make fire. I also feel that we should sort out overpopulation in the next century or so. It's going to stop at 11 billion, according to one scientist.
To summarize, I think we need to give way to developing species instead of hindering them and classifying them as a threat to our dominance of the world. We are creatures with complex brains, and other creatures are developing complex brains. We are all creatures, sentient beings that can feel emotions.
That's all, goodnight.

So... Captainjackharknes over here has literally made my stomach chrun. 1) We are animals. We are fucking brilliant animals, but at the end of it all we are still technically a zero-sum. 2) All mammals have feelings, that's scientifically proven. Reptiles and most amphibians as well. With fish and some amphibians it gets kind of iffy just because of how they are neurologically wired... we literally cannot comprehend it. With insects it's even farther out there.. but it's been proven that even insects can show fear so it makes sense fish and amphibians can also at least do that. 3) And this is specifically for you Captain asshat... humans are NOT the only animals with a sense of morality. Dolphins, whales, greater and lesser apes, monkeys, cats, dogs, hyenas, meerkats, bears, manatees, pigeons, crows, ravens, parrots, boars, elephants, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles and freaking badgers have all shown basic morality.
Get the fuck out with that 15th century idea that humans are divine.
