Play for fun. Don't let stats worry you too much. A character who's really strong but really clumsy is still a fun character to adventure alongside. That said, do take advantage of any clever things your character is capable of in-game. Just because you have an intelligence of 6 doesn;t mean you are easily manipulated, you could decide that you can't be manipulated since your character is strong headed, but not bright. It's a Pen and Paper RPG, try roleplaying your character instead of always projecting yourself through them like their personality is a megaphone. Davok the Ranger might find things morbid humorous as compared to you, or he might find outrage at being passed over for a role that promises glory or fame.
