@Dimebag Mono red Goblins is inexpensive, the 'top teir' version is 200$ish and the just good version is about 30. Or Mono Green infect can be built for like.. 10$? And can win turn 2

It is a deck around doing Infect damage to your opponent, back in the New Phyrexia block we got creatures that had infect, which deal poison damage. The poison ignores their life-total and kills them at 10 infect damage.

Are there a lot of mechanics like that I need to learn about before getting into the game?

In short, yes. But honestly most people playing are super friendly and help you. And a good 50% of the mechanics say what they do on the card. It's refereed to as "Reminder text" that the creators of the game (Wizards of the Coast) Put on the cards to help new players get into the game.

I am glad to hear that! Most people will take their time to help you into the game, its honestly the best culture of anything I have delve into. There are hundreds of thousands of forums for any questions you have. Just don't be afraid to ask someone if you aren't sure of something.
