One of the best pieces of advice I got in grad school was from a professor who has written numerous books: " it doesn't have to be right, just written." That means just put something down on paper (or on computer or whatever). Even if it is a title. Don't worry about accuracy, spelling, grammar, etc. This builds momentum. I often tell patients to break things down and just commit to working for 20 minutes on something. 20 minutes is a lot easier than trying to write a whole paper. Avoiding just prolongs the misery. You experience the continued anxiety and dread each time you think of something that must be done and avoid it. It is like making interest only payments on a loan. The final bill is still the same. You don't get to fully enjoy the thing you do instead of work, because guilt and anxiety rob you of getting the full amount of pleasure. I used to be a horrible procrastinator, but this has changed that. Good luck! p.s. creative to procrastinate by asking about it on FS :)

Agreeing with @metaanalysis. I got through Grad school by taking things in chunks. 30 minutes focus, 10 minutes cookies, chips or ice cream, 10 minutes cardio. Rinse and repeat.

You could also guilt yourself, or have fun adding Easter eggs for your teachers in the assignments. References, white text that says “If you’re reading this, you are a sly dog”.
That’s how I deal with it.

Not sure if this will help, but I found a spot in my house where I just sit down and work. At first, I wouldn’t have my phone with me. And every time I felt like procrastinating, I would move away from that spot, procrastinate, then come back to that spot and work (in small chunks).
Now whenever I sit in that spot, no matter if I have my phone with me or not, I never procrastinate there. I can’t bring myself to do it and whenever I sit there, I just feel motivated to work.
Good luck!!

You could also try apps that block sites like fs. And try studying or working with the pomodoro technique (25 min work with 5 min break and a 20 min break after the fourth session).
