That would explain why he was so "drawn" to the house. I guess she has some sort of ability to control people.
Also I think the tea has some sleeping potion in it

"Animals were usually a good sign in a
place like this, Billy told himself; "
Billy fucked up.

"But this dame was a like a
jack-in-the-box. He pressed the bell – and
out she popped! It made him jump. "
You can feel him wanting to just shout out "YO DIS BITCH CRAY CRAY"
" Now, the fact that his landlady appeared
to be slightly off her rocker didn’t worry
Billy in the least"
What the fuck Billy?
That story was horrifying.

anyway.... as for the meaning... I think it's about how it can be difficult to recognize a mistake before it is too late; and that even with little actions the repercussions should always weigh heavier than they tend to... as well as listening to the advice of those before you so the mistake doesn't repeat.

That’s an interesting view on it.
funkmasterrex · 6 years ago
yeah... the problem with that view is you'll get stuck in analysis-paralysis. You can only go so far down the rabbit hole.

For my English I need to rewrite it

I'm not complaining about helping but, have you got teachers or your parents that can help you too?
creativedragonbaby · 6 years ago
The teachers are busy and... well my parents aren’t exactly the smartest of people

I did a paper on this story earlier this year. She draws him in with her mysterious “aura” of sorts around her house, poisons her occupants with cyanide (hence the almond taste) and taxidermies them.

I read this shit in like 8th grade
creativedragonbaby · 6 years ago
@chilledtothebone but is she a witch tho
infosubstance · 6 years ago
@ chilled exactly. and dragon i dont believe they imply she is a witch just a creepy old lady who poisons her guests with cyanide and taxidermies them, hence why they never sign out and the odd smell of the tea and that she looks him up and down (sizing him up) when she goes to show him his room this is one of my favorite stories
creativedragonbaby · 6 years ago
Why was he drawn there in the first place then?
infosubstance · 6 years ago
I honestly have no clue, perhaps the glow of neon signs or the radiating sense of heat on the cold autumn night? am I helping at all?
creativedragonbaby · 6 years ago
Oh, this is finished ages ago. I just wanted to discuss it
infosubstance · 6 years ago
