How ironic

Makes sense. If President Obama can win it for doing, like, nothing, then I should think the President who contributed to bringing peace, however fragile, between North and South Korea, should at least be nominated.

Chakun makes sense there. Hairybeary why?

I think he deserves it, at least he did something to get nominated for it.

Ha ha ha... The world will understand that you don't need to talk sweet to get things done

It's not everyday you help broker a peace treaty to end a 60-year war.

You guys are even more insane than he is evidently. He brought peace to the Koreas? He hasn't even talked to Kim? Here we go, you guys have drank the Koolaid alright!

He was at the conference.
Why do you think CNN was screaming he's gonna get the whole world destroyed.
But, to be honest, I don't really care the NPP. It's just some award to me, although he did at least contribute to Korean peace.

Past recipients include Henry freaking Kissinger- while he was helping run illegal bombing raids into a non combatant country aimed at maiming people, Elihu Root- who got it while brutally interrogating and torturing people, and racking up a body count of 200,000+ civilians in claiming the Philippines from the Spanish, a lady who didn’t do anything except sit in her house comfortably and then sat through a mass genocide- they even tried to offer it to Lê Duc Tho (Ho Chi Mihns successor) in 1973 for “ending” the Vietnam war at the Paris peace accords. Vietnam didn’t “end” until 1975. To his great credit- Tho refused the award stating it was premature- so Kissinger took it instead. So yeah. Politics and personal feelings asides, the Nobel comity has a history of handing these awards out for “potential” peace and not actual results (like with Obama), and tend to make lousy decisions anyway (Gandhi isn’t the saint people make him out as- but in 1948 they gave the award to NO ONE over him.)

In other words Trump is just as deserving as any other recipient wether you like him or not.

Like I said, NPP is bullshit.
famousone · 5 years ago
More deserving than many, from the sound of it, but the NPP is still pretty worthless

Agreed.

The award also (I thiiiiiink) went to a guy for a power point on global warming, beating out a nominee who saved thousands of children from concentration camps by smuggling them out during WWII.
It’s.... yeah
