Finding a person, I've had only a couple conversations and matches with people but the conversation never extends past the bare minimum of conversation.

Wait found your post. It looks good in my opinion but I guess you could make it more personal, it's a little like a mini essay but if that's how you want to portray your personality then keep it like that. In the meantime you could add a few more photos of you doing different things, maybe in the process of welding to show off your skills. Don't have too cause it looks good but just some options if you want to change it up a bit.

Another random thought: you may want to try other sites. Tinder, for example, is more of a hookup app IMHO but you seem to be looking for something more serious.
