We visited an aquarium and asked staff what the octopus's name was. She said they don't name them because octopi only live for about 2 years, and it depresses guests who return looking for their old octopus friend and find out that another octopus has replaced them. I felt bad, so I said I was going to name him Frank. Frank *immediately* turned a bright, vivid red, so I said "Okay, okay, sorry! Hmm...what's a good name for an octopus? I'll call you Kevin." Kevin returned to his normal color as soon as I renamed him.
