There's one of these groups here. They're political activists, not a religion. They just use Satanic in the name because they think it's edgy and it gets them attention.

There's also fewer cars, people, animals outside when it snows.

Just because someone posts "Thoughts and prayers" on Facebook or Twitter doesn't mean they didn't do something else, like donate money, food, clothing, time. "Thoughts and prayers" is simply letting people know they aren't alone, not forgotten.
