Unlikely. You need treatment. A problem shared is not a problem halved. Medication is the only thing that works for the most severe cases of Depression. Plus many people have to try multiple antidepressants before they find one that works; although the majority never find a drug that works for them. However your circumstances seem to be the main cause of your low mood and it is likely that you will feel better when those circumstances are removed. Strip it down to the basics. Cut out the instruments unless you enjoy it. Get out of the house instead. Go to your GP. Cut out friendships which are not really friendships. Pay to see a psychiatrist, or talk to a school counsellor for free. Avoid behaviours which make you feel worse. Get at least eight hours sleep a night. Eat healthily. Accept that you may have an illness that needs treatment, then get the treatment. Prozac is the most common antidepressant used in adolescents. If that doesn't work, try other SSRI's.

Ever heard of giving a man a fish versus teaching a man to fish. Buying food for those who need it should not have to be anyone's responsibility, however teaching them to find their own food is something we can do.
