It's fine to pick up a puppy by the nape of the neck. They have more/looser skin there & that's how they are carried by their mom. If you ever pick one up by the nape, their bodies go stiff so their mom can pick them up safely without dropping them. I definitely don't agree with how he's holding the pup tho. It's WAY too high & the poor pup would get hurt if his hand were to slip or anything. Sorry for the long post :]
