not odd cats and dogs are pack animals & there is a hierarchy in the packs. The Alpha(leader) of the pack always eats first. So they could see you as the pack leader & there for waiting for you to start eating to show its ok to go ahead and eat. or they are copying behavior they are in see is us to fit in.
