Actually half of the time when I play video games in better at what my character is doing in real life, like for example in cod I suck, but everytime my and my friends play airlift I beat everybody's ass at it. Another example when I'm playing assassins creed I am better at parkour than I am at controling a video game character to parkour
No, I get you. I tend to muck around in video games way more than I do in life. Sure I may do things I wouldn't do in real life, but it's sort of like an outlet of stress and fun for most people. It's better than actually going out into the big wide world and stabbing someone with a spork
No, I complete agree with you man. If only the media could show everyone out there our side of the story, that we aren't just all brainless, mindless "cold blooded killers-in-toe".
Of course, every once in a while I do ponder what the effect would be if I lobbed a Pineapple into a crowded train. But I usually keep those thoughts in my head.
This isn't a very strong argument though. All those things take some kind of training and skill but anyone can murder without someone telling them how.
I hate it when people blame violence on video games, I don't remember GTA or Call of Duty being around during the First world war, or the second world war or The Korean war or the Vietnam war. I Have played violent video games my whole life and the thought of going out and murdering someone has never come to mind.
I notice that nobody remembers the claim that violent games desensitizes people to violence. We may not want to beleive it, but we should argue that rather than make up something like this. Obviously, you aren't a murderer if you didn't kill someone in real life. But, we argue against the strawman instead of the actual claim.
I believe it does desensitize, but it doesn't create murderers. What it could very possibly do is trigger a murderous inclination in those already mentally inclined to murder.
