I have only taken a cold shower once in my life but that was because the bathroom was unventilated and the average outside temperature was 40° C and i was sweaty and gross
I do both of these, kind of. I shower with hot water but then turn it to ice cold for a few seconds. It makes me feel very clean and nice, plus I'm not cold when I get out of the shower cause my skin is covered in cold water while my body's still warmed up from the hot water.
Why do you think the skin tightens? Because cold makes the blood supply receed from the skin surface to minimalize the surface area inside the veins/blood vessels/capillaries (can someone please tell me the difference because I can't remember which is which?) to slow heat loss. Less blood supply means slower skin cell production (while taking cold showers on a regular basis) which means tighter skin
