Been there before, and the store I worked at even had a sign saying 'no bills over $20 accepted' I swore off retail after getting punched by a guy at 2am because I wouldn't take a $50 bill for a $0.99 soda.
"this is US currency you have to take it" Nope I really don't unless you accept an IOU for your $99.35 worth of change. Yep fuck you too sir have a great day and drive safely.
Have you guys experienced quick change artist yet? Had one a few months ago look at me in disbelief because he thought I was dumb enough to give him change for a hundred he took from my hands.
It happened to me once, the guy bought something, asked me to change a bill, and then tried to confuse me into giving him more money than he'd actually get back.
I once had a customer buy an item for around $80 and pay with a $100. I had change but that wiped out all my larger bills. He returned the item a short while later and got very pissed when I tried to give him $5's back and refused to take them. I told him he could give me the change I gave him earlier and I would give him his original $100, but he got even angrier. I had to take larger bills from four other cash drawers (I am a manager and can do that) to satisfy this asshole and get him to leave. He was a regular customer until then (always with problems) and has never been back! Good riddance.
where I worked at had a locked change drawer at customer service and we would just have to go up there and swap that out(if we were on checkouts). But check out registers were also separate from refund registers and the refund ones typically had plenty to cover larger returns.
