It's ridiculous in the US that you are an adult at 18, you can vote, you are legally liable for yourself, you can die in the military, but you can't enjoy a cold beer on a hot summer day.
Well one year is 365 days. Your birthday actually marks the first day of a new cycle of 365 days. For example, if you were born on Jan 1, 365 days later would actually be Dec 31. Jan 1 of the next year would be a year and a day. So technically the day before your 21st birthday you will be 21 years of age.
Apparently some restaurants in Ohio (not to name any names *cough* ROOSTERS *cough*) also do not take ID in any form other than the horizontal ones even though they are all government issued and legally show that you are over the drinking age. I'm just salty about being made to feel like I was underaged and trying to sneak a drink.
That's BS. A govt issued ID card is still a govt issued ID. Some states even make their driver licenses vertically. Maybe you just got a stupid server, or an asshole. Never been in a Roosters but I heard they're not that great anyway.
That's a nice, rose-colored glasses, civics 101, Disney kinda thought, but a bit naive. Yes states' rights allow the states to make their own laws in theory, but in practice Uncle Sam hands down demands such as legal drinking age, blood alcohol level to be legally drunk (.08%), 55mph speed limit, any number of school regulations including that heinous mess they call Common Core, and on and on, and tell the states they have to abide in order to receive federal funds. The states can do as they wish, but won't because they want money. The reality is the feds unconstitutionally control the states through extortion.
Yeah, the feds got the states to change their laws by threatening to withhold money for roads. And now, you have to wait to drink alcohol until the day of your 21st birthday.
