Being a french student, I can't agree with that bread thing. I have tried homemade bread (my mom used to do it), first of all it takes some trial and error before reaching an OK outcome, which I don't really have time to go through, and even then the bread you get is still quite far from what you can get at the bakery (at least in France).
Here in Canada, my family made bread occasionally. The bread always came out awesome, but it never lasted long as it was so delicious. Maybe you should try your hand at baking once again?
This bread sounds a bit..not so good. All white flour and sugar? We only eat homemade bread, with no sugar and and lots of wholewheat, oats etc and it is delicios!
A lot of countries makes bread with sugar, so it's just wierd for me who's used to bread without sugar in it. But even without sugar, the bread we make is delicious and tasteful, and of course large and airy, even without the "food for yeast". Maybe because we only use fresh yeast?
I have to admit, I'm not the one usually making the bread. But maybe it's a different yeast here in Norway? I know the yeast works great, and that we don't put sugar in, so... it works.
