Oh, we Dutch get that all the time. The Flevopolder is the largest artificial island in the world. "God created the Dutch, but the Dutch created the Netherlands."
This arose few questions in my head. How big are those new islands in China sea? Whose are those islands that are nobody's? And what if some megavulcano erupts like a half of a France big island, are we gonna fight over it? And will it raise sea levels? And will it be considered international in international waters, double law free? I'd claim this island when it cools off if I were you
The last time this was posted someone with real sailing experience gave a very good reason as to why you should try to get away as far as possible if this happens; can anyone quote what that person said? I'm all of a sudden very curious again.
It's because of the density of the water mixed with mostly gases from the underwater volcano would essentially sink the boat. All the gasses will create pockets of air, and since boats float on water, not air, the boat would catch those pockets of air and just sink. That's why it's so dangerous and no one ever thinks about that aspect of this situation.
