I could see that being true in the "heyday" of the industry for a top rated star who didn't normally do anal but had high demand. I could even see it today for something like a celebrity or media personality doing a one off or cross over, or for rights to a sex tape. But yeah, big tallent is lucky to book a shoot for $5k anymore let alone that kind of scratch. The business has changed and for local professional talent the real money is all in residuals, appearances, books, branding, or having their own businesses or adult lines- and only if you reach the level of recognition to capitalize.
You could also do solos, strip teases, or fetish work like tickling or eating, scat, prosthetic bukake, popping balloons, body worship, naked wrestling, JOI/JOE, etc. Although to be fair to @alekazam, it's unlikely those fields would produce a "porn star" as much as they would "porn actor/actress" or "Adult entertainer." I suppose it depends on how we decide to classify a porn "star" vs someone who just is filmed in pornography.
