Yes, which is not bad. USB-C is the next step in wired data transfering technology. Everyone will most logically be using USB-C in the future as it is superior to both micro USB and regular USB. We can't stay at the same step forever.
Yeah, whilst USB - C does benefit manufacturers as cables need to be repurchased. But it is necessary for the power need for current generation smart devices. It may be better than micro USB as a greater portion of the electronics market's largest players have adopted it, e.g. Google, Samsung, apple (for Mac's) and Nintendo.
