Actually I think this is a Croc, when alligators close their mouths most of their teeth are hidden and their snouts are more U shaped. This guys got more of a V like a croc, not certain though it's hard to tell with its head facing up

You can tell it's a crocodile because some of its lower teeth are visible.

Yeah, definitely an alligator. Even if he hadn't said it I wouldn't be much of a Floridian if I couldn't recognize a gator when I saw one.
