“I am exactly what they say I am
I stand for everything that they can't stand
I can't help it I was born this way
But when I'm gone you'll remember my name”

I’m a parent, these things really happen. Waaaaay funnier when they happen to other people though than when it happens to you.

I’ve talked out of a couple speeding tickets, it’s rare though. One time I apologized and said I really needed a bathroom was warned to slow down and sent on my way.

If only laws were written in common language instead of legalese. The word loophole implies illegal activity even though that would be an oxymoron “In other news Richie Rich used (illegal activity) to legally defer his income tax payments until the project is completed”. I’ve seen good people pubically accused of “using loopholes” and suffering backlash from it even though their actions were all within the law. A big problem in the US today is cynicism born of our broadcast media and nourished by these words and phrases used in everyday reporting that are designed to drive a wedge between people.

Ha. $50k. Homes in western NY can be purchased for $50,000. A decent home to raise a family can be 200-250k. Teachers in this area top out over $80k and can retire with a $55k (state income tax exempt) pension. Most of my property tax funds the public school system. You can live well here with a single $85K income or dual $50K income.

*Sigh* The point is I hosted a 112 person event for 3400.
.
My wedding was $8000 and we served 200 guests great food and drink. We wore suits we had, bridesmaids wore dresses they had, rings were family heirlooms, dress was a few hundred. Huge lavish weddings are not necessary.

I hosted a fundraiser last year at a local establishment. 112 attendees were served dinner, sodas and draft beer were included for 2.5 hours, cake and ice cream for dessert (@$22 each=$2464), a dj with sound system was hired ($350), decorations were nothing special ($150) I tipped the servers and bartenders (4@75=$300). This comes out to $3264, (I’m forgetting something because our expenses were 3400.) and we served 112 people. We sold 125 tickets at $40 each and our caterer agreement was minimum 100 max 125. *edit I had flyers and tickets printed
