It's a pretty common phrase. I think Steve Harvey is a hack.

I always find it weird when a parent calls spending time with their kids "looking after" them. They're your children, not your neighbors cat.

I think a good rule of thumb is not to use Hitler as a moral barometer. Even though he loved dogs and implemented an anti-smoking campaign, you shouldn't base your love of dogs or hatred of smoking on what Hitler thought.

This is what Tour the France rider legs look like after 16 stages 7 comments

Apparently something like 40x as much blood is going to the legs than a person at rest. His feet are purple because his legs can't pump out all the blood, so it's pooling. Pretty gross.

Thank you, that is a very good point. It looks quaint and wholesome by today's standards, but some of these woman were rebelling against an unfair system any way they could.

So, there's this idea called "respectability politics" that more and more social groups are moving away from. They believe that playing the respectful, modest person quietly working toward change plays into the hands of the oppressor, ie. if you look the right way and act the right way, people will listen to you. But the right way is often the way those you're fighting against want you to act and look. So, they rebel in whatever way they can.

Carter gets a ton of shit, but he was also the sitting president during the Iran hostage crisis, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and the energy crisis. A lot of really bad things happened while he as president, and I think that leads to the perception that he was bad at his job. Also, Reagan made him out to be this pessimistic old stuffed shirt that didn't believe in America during his run from president.

From a crowd of potentially thousands? Do you remember when they fingered the wrong guy for the Boston Maraton bombing? Imagine that happening on a much larger scale.

I read that first part as "shit gravity" and realized I don't know anything about Jean Grey at all.

When I broke up with my high school girlfriend I was inconsolable, mopey, angy, all the normal teenager stuff. I laid in my bed all day and only really left to get food and use the bathroom. My Ridgeback Lady would bring me things like toys and random shirts and just nudge them over to me. After about a week she was sick of my shit and finally just put her snout under my back and tried to roll me off the bed. It took a few hours, but when I was finally on the floor she jumped on me and licked my face until I was ready to play. She was a great dog.

They were there. We were doing a project in class, he got right up in my face and stayed there for about 10 minutes. I tried to ignore him, but I finally snapped. It was just the point of the scissors and the teacher was out of the room. Like I said, not my proudest moment, but I didn't have any trouble with him afterwards. That's not to say that somebody being bullied should escalate the situation because the bully could always escalate it even more.

He didn't just verbally assault me. He harassed me for 3 years and the administration of the school did nothing about it. He would follow me around school, fill my backpack with water and soda, pants me, shove gum in my locker lock. I eventually snapped. It wasn't my proudest moment, but I had had enough of it.

I had a bully in high school that called me faggot, homo, every homophobic slur under the sun. One day in physics class he was being especially aggressive and got extremely close to my face, close enough that I could pucker my lips and kiss him. So I stabbed him in the thigh with a pair of scissors and told him to tell all his buddies the homo did that and I will make him find out if i am gay.
