Curiousity question: Do we equally mourn the doggos on the other side who are killed by our soldiers even if they were killed when trying to hurt them?
I an purposely not stating who we or they are as it shouldn't be relevant to the answer.

Agreed. It's not totally analogous but along the same vein.

Why? If he was leaning back in the chair when he pulled the trigger his arm would have gone straight down and the gun would land on the floor.

Ok. I'm going with suicide. The bottle broken on the wall and the stuff knocked on the floor look like he did it in anger or frustration BUT there are still items on the desk meaning that he knocked it all off and then picked some back up and replaced them which wouldn't happen if it was a struggle. The laptop might be there for the suicide note.

Low caliber pistol wouldn't have an exit wound and relatively low blood flow. The window may be open because the A/C is off/broken.

Yeah it looks pretty until one of those cables fails and you have to cut two dozen zip ties to get it out, then make a cable to length, then rearrange it and put new zip ties back where the old ones were. An hour to do thirty seconds of work essentially. If that was my equipment I would take the one on the left any day.

I think the question revolves around would he recognize flat and round intuitively. He has a concept in his mind of what flat and round are but no experience with the visual representations of it. Kind of like if you could hear colors all of a sudden would you know what blue and red sound like without anyone telling you which was which.

Man I thought being murdered by robots with metal claws was bad. Now they can reach under the door and strangle you. Then I assume they unlock the door from the inside and live in your house with your family as their new father. Diabolical.

The article says she was punched, squeezed, and shaken. The shaking is probably what caused the brain injury that killed her.

Well I think I probably am. I have two children and both of them had terrible issues with colic and reflux as infants which meant they went 9 and 14 months respectively before sleeping through the night.
I can tell you that I had to actively restrain myself many times to keep from shaking them. It's very common, to the point that they give specific education to parents about it, so while I can't defend this persons actions in any way I can totally understand the frustration that triggered it.

Let me put it another way. If two candidate were running for president of the planet and it was a popular vote then why would they campaign in any language beside Mandarin and Hindi? Around 30% of the population speaks those languages and that's enough to swing the election by a large margin. If each country had a vote they would have to take them all into account to some degree.

@yimmye I'm afraid it isn't about the majority. It's about ensuring the chohesion of the culture as a whole. If 51% of people want something that doesn't intrinsically make it the right choice for the whole country.

@stream_42 That's kind of the point. As famousone mentions our states are not just different regions they are independently governed entities that are connected under an agreed upon federal cooperative. However federal is not more important than state government and the smaller states deserve equal say in the collective voice. Think of it this way: the USA is set up so that the states vote for the president, not the individuals.

The electoral college prevents candidates from focusing their policies to get numerical superiority in specific high population areas which would less representative of the whole. Number of electors is not purely per capita, it's equal to the number of representatives in Congress.
That being said, Idris Elba is totally awesome. When he was doing The Wire in Baltimore he had to maintain his character'a accent when he met fans because it was so perfectly done the natives to the area had no idea he was British and it freaked them out to find out he was.
