Is this really that big (no pun intended) an issue for people outside of the internet? Like, are women actually getting to the point they're about to have sex with a guy, and then see his penis, and suddenly the deal is off because it's not over 6 inches? It seems as irrelevant as the thigh-gap to me. Especially since, iirc, 4.5 inches was considered the average not that long ago
Fun fact: the Greeks used to find large male genitalia quite obscene. It was considered unattractive, and men who possessed larger penises were depicted as being animalistic, base, lustful, and stupid. Small penises were valued much higher, and considered more attractive and sophisticated, among other things. This is why statues of respected figures from Greek history are often portrayed as having incredibly modest penises, whereas creatures and characters that were considered evil or "less-than" were often portrayed as having exceedingly large genitals

I'm pretty sure a lot of guys think 1 inch off their hair is a lot, too, but since they tend to have shorter styles to begin with, and are generally better received when they go bald, it's not as big a deal to some of them

I think we understood what you meant, but it was still amusing anyway. Autocorrect tends to be a pain in the ass and gets the best of us.
Also, never been more motivated to take the stairs in my life

That scene comes to mind. Possibly because I heard an interview not that long ago of a woman who escaped North Korea and said she had never been permitted to hear any music that wasn't praising Kim Jong in her entire life that hadn't been smuggled in. And hearing it was part of why she wanted to escape
Obviously, no, it's not total freedom. But, again, it's not being forced upon them-- unlike their regime. Again, we can talk about the Berlin Wall if you like. The people there weren't free. The people who helped them, or the people who tried to escape, all knew the potential consequences. As did the people who ran the underground railroad, and the slaves that used it.
That doesn't mean you take away their ability to try. If you don't want to be part of it, you clearly aren't obligated to do anything. But if your alternative is to do nothing at all but complain about anyone trying to make a difference, I don't see how that's helping these people either.

Just to add to the nightmare fuel i suppose, there was a news story like a week ago or something about two men who almost drowned in an elevator.
I'm not sure if the elevator got stuck, or if they unwittingly took it down *into* the water, but there was flash flooding in the building/parkade, and the elevator filled with water pretty quickly.
Luckily they managed to get ahold of police, who were there to rescue them in like 6 minutes. By that time the men only had a foot of airspace left near the very top of the elevator.

So basically elevators are a highly useful, time and energy saving device, that occasionally like to not work properly and make people live out every single one of their worst nightmares in various ways. Like little convenience coffins

I can see that happening within reason, though. Not the racism thing, that's just stupid. But there's people I would rather set my own eyelids on fire than allow anywhere in my house, but people I know are still okay with them.
I don't particularly want to get into details, so I'll just say, for me, blood isn't thicker than being a piece of shit human being.
That said, in situations like this, you end up with three options:
-One of the people with the problem does not go to the event
-The event is held on neutral territory
-The person who doesn't want the other person around sucks it up and deals with it because it's important to the boyfriend/whoever
Usually option 3 is the one that feels like it works out best for everyone else

On the one hand, yes, absolutely. On the other hand, they probably know and understand that. I don't see how anyone living in North Korea could not understand that. But At least this would give them the ability to make the choice for themselves?
Ignoring the other flaws mentioned (such as people not having access to computers) for the time being, and focusing on the motivation of the campaign itself, this isn't designed to force people to take or distribute the usbs as far as I can tell-- just offer them. Just as the journalists in Russia know that anything they say against Putin may very well get them assassinated. And those trapped behind the Berlin Wall knew any effort at escape would likely end in death. Some still feel it's worth the risk. And I feel like those people deserve any help we can give them.
