As a strong fan of the series, I can say the movie felt like something was lost. Maybe it was the voicecasting. Kowalski sounded more fun in the series. Also the mutant penguin army wasn't an enjoyable twist for me.
My problem was the comedy. Most of the best jokes (Which were admittidly pretty funny) were in the trailer, and the rest of the jokes were so childish and stupid that I could feel my brain cells dying with every one
