It's got nothing to do with being rich. If as a parent you know multiple languages talk to your children in at least two, they will thank you for that later
I like how the responder assumes only rich people can be bilingual when most Hispanic and Asian kids i know already knew two by the start of kindergarten and it was a poor public school area so ... obviously only rich people
Actually there's another internet-famous tweet that is tied to this story, I think it goes "So do immigrant children but they're not rich so apparently they don't count" or something like that. So yeah, it's not about not being capable, but she's in the news for it while the millions of immigrant children aren't, in fact they're even looked down upon by some people.
At home we spoke 3 languages when I was that age :p I don't think it was because my parents were well off though, it was just a multicultural atmosphere =)
