Ok but the whole reason they lay so many eggs is from a genetic adaptation that comes into effect when they are fed well. This was caused by bamboo sprouting season, when seeds would be plentiful. So we didn’t selectively breed them not on purpose anyway.
Oh peta, just when I think you can't get any stupider you give a rooster a sex change smear ketchup on an egg and claim the egg killed the rooster. I have 37 hens and they all happily lay at least one egg every other day with no beatings or bodily harm if they miss quota on that and they have free roam of 20 acres of ground to boot!
it doesnt matter that hens lay bloody eggs all the time especially if its one of their first times laying eggs or anything, but what do i know im just raise and breed chickens.
Are you assuming it's a male bc of the comb on its head? I hate to burst your bubble but hens have them too. I have 15 egg-laying hens and they all have combs on their heads. Also, based on the coloration of this comb (& the portion of the wattle that's visible) this poor bird wasn't in the best of health.
