And this is why I have to card everyone of every age where I work. Plus, fun fact, you also actually have to have your ID with you to purchase tobacco/alcohol, it must be intact (as in, it can't have been cut at all), and it cannot be expired. It is no longer a legal ID for any of those reasons, and I've had grown adults cuss and yell at me saying 'Its an ID, they cant expire!'. Well then, tell me why your ID said Exp: 06/18/2015.
My grandparents went to this movie theater where you can have dinner while watching the movie. She was going to order wine but realized that she left her ID at home. Keep in mind that she's 86 years old. The waiter/attendant tells her that he can't serve her because of this even though she's clearly a legal adult. His argument was that she could be someone from corporate coming to test them. My grandpa ended up ordering 2 glasses and gave her the other one.
Fun fact, that actually happens. We have people come in to test if we're carding people. If we don't card someone and they don't have an ID, we can be fined $500 or more for it, regardless of age. So, sure, act like it's ok if you want, but you don't pay our bills, and you sure as hell wouldn't pay the fine we could get.
