I am just a very thin layer of charming with some funny sprinkles wrapped around a huge creamy center of raging arrogant a-hole.

Indeed. The abbreviated story is that he was at his desk and staring out the window, into the garden and thought 42 will do.

While there is a little more to the story and some history behind it, it's not much. Douglas Adams has refuted all of them; this one, 6x9 in base 13, street addresses, something about Tibetan monks... all false.
Typical asumptive revisionism.

Lake Superior isn't the largest lake in the world. The Caspian Sea is and it's four and half times larger.

Wow. She sounds crazy.
I don't mean, "OMG, this one girl I took out on a date is cray-zee!!"
I mean:
"We the people find the defendant..."

This is probably one of my favorite things from behind the scenes of the films.
That and what Rupert decided to buy for cars with his money. An obscenely orange Range Rover, an ice cream van and a hovercraft.

I may be an Athiest, but I frame it like this and I have mentioned it similarly to the devout.
The creator did grant us not just free will, but also with curiosity. I think then, that one of the greatest forms of praise one might pay to Him, is to explore the majesty of His creation. To see, document and communicate the splendor of nature. Much of His word is written... but there is so much more that isn't; it is there for us to see if we just only look.

Indeed. You may startle a Londoner, you may even briefly frighten them... but there isn't a damned thing you can do that hasn't been already tried.
Tried and failed, I'll add.

Just be sure to present it at the wedding, so that the couple may have the cash on their honeymoon.
They will appreciate it.

Given the grammar and syntax of the captioning, I was expecting this to be misinterpretation and misunderstanding... but it turns out, that's not data noise in the image, those really are individual stars.

That's pretty serious selection bias and does not present a representative sample. Given the stratification caused by testing scores, the "average" intelligence is going to progressively go up as the demands of the Corps and MOS series do.

So? The Catholic Church has been rather open minded and progressive over the past 100 years.
It's the damned fundamentalist Protestants that are threatening to drag us back to the dark ages.

Also, a bit more rare, solar flares and CME that knockout communications. A bigger threat than you think. The Carrington Event of 1859 for example had a fatality associated with it.
The Aurora caused by the event were seen as far south as Columbia... implying that they could be seen across the whole of the planet. In New England, one could read a newspaper by Aurora light, they were so bright.
