From my experience, in very slow traffic jams the trucks are usually going less than 2mph and have six-to-eight car lengths of space between them. They don't get "cut off" in a traffic jam. Cars just move in to fill empty space no matter what it's in front of. That is the nature of a traffic jam...no empty space.

How the hell do you ask somebody to prom if you don't even know them well enough to know if they have a significant other? Facebook is a thing. Instagram is a thing. Twitter is a thing. Girls mention their boyfriends pretty regularly if you actually converse with them. My vote is that this guy is a creepy "I'm just a nice guy being friendly, ha ha!" dude who she barely nods to in the hallway and tries to avoid 90% of the time.

I mean...she could say it's a Seal of Solomon. That's also now heavily referenced in occult and mysticism.

Gaming's pretty common now. If you get bullied at school, it ain't because you're a gamer. Better do a new self-analysis.

I read somewhere that the reason suicide is classified as a crime in the US is because police can only enter a property without permission if they're sure a crime is occurring or about to occur, and suicide being a crime means they can enter a property to stop a suicide-in-progress.

He's in Modern Family now, which is pretty much a modern version of Married With Children. Still has a (second) hot wife and both grown and young kids plus grandkids.

Schools are also starting to tell kids they can't attend if they're not vaccinated. It's called social pressure...a society has to allow an individual's choices, but a society can also choose not to interact with those who make those decisions. Doctors are free citizens who render their services at their own discretion. If they don't like anti-vaxxers, they're not obligated to force their other vulnerable patients to interact with them. Nor are they required to accomodate his special need by having a separate place in the waiting room. It's their door to put a Keep Out sign on, full stop.

You can carry an illness without being sick, and infect others. That's why they're called carriers.

Customs agents keep finding tens to hundreds of these lil guys being shipped, alive and terrified, by poachers. They really don't have any defenses, the poor things get super traumatized.

The fact that the OP and the first responder didn't notice that the kids aren't all facing the same way tells me they don't even actually know what praying in Islam looks like and makes me wonder what other things they go around yelling about without actually having any information on.

Allow me to translate for guest: "I can't stand that people out there exist who are more attractive than me and won't let me sit at the cool kid table with them. How DARE they dress the way they want to without asking me for my pointless and useless opinion? Finding out I don't matter to 99%+ people on the planet REALLY hurts my feelings."

What is Fax 3 comments
dancadamorte · 6 years ago
We still have people sending us faxes to request references. Except our fax number literally is just a service that converts the fax to PDF and emails it to us. If they've provided an email address on it, I edit the PDF and email it back. If not, well. I'm not standing for 10 minutes at the slow-ass fax machine to send you back your request because you don't know what year it is.

Baby Boomers are 1946 - 1964. Generation X is 1965 - 1980. Millennials are 1981 - 2000. Generation Z is 2001 +. These are the working generation definitions most news outlets and taking heads will be using when they're referring to different groups.

The new way of math 62 comments

This is a unit counting method, it's a different method from straight subtraction. It's easier to figure out "9362 - 8735" in your head when you're not crossing out amd carrying.
The new way of math 62 comments

Here's a different example of this method for those who wonder why it's taught this way: 600-50=? This is so simple for most of us that we don't write it down. In our heads we start at 50. We add 50 to get to 100. Then we count by 100s to get to 600. So our counting would sound something like "50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600." One 50, five 100s. Our answer is 550. For this problem, all the writing says is "12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 30, 31, 32." Three 1s, one 5, one 10, two more 1s. 3+5+10+2=20. It's a method for doing the math in yoir head, most of us do it this way everyday. We've just never seen it written out so it looks strange.

I think some clarification is needed here. These signal boxes were not INSIDE buildings. They were outside, on street corners. A person would run down to the corner to pull the lever and signal the firemen to come to that location. A lock like this would just be to deter kids on the corner from pulling it for no reason.

Saying 'you should exercise' is now a huge crime 21 comments
dancadamorte · 6 years ago
People who say "you should exercise" and "I'm just worried about your health" are 90% of the time talking to people they don't know and don't actually care at all about health. They just have a weird, raging urge to insert themselves in somebody else's (admittedly bad) choices even though it usually has nothing to do with them.

What would surprise women about life as a man 7 comments
dancadamorte · 6 years ago
This story is a mess from beginning to end...on one hand, the guy was trying to find her parents. On the other, at one point the child apparently became visibly agitated and tried to escape from him, so he picked her up against her will and carried her on. The child's father and two other men apparently found him headed to the parking lot with her and believed she was being kidnapped. It was the child's father who assaulted the guy, and as of printing the father still doesn't think the man is innocent. I just...why would you take the kid anywhere!? Stay right there! Parents will be looking! If you can, send another bystander to ask around for parents, don't walk the kid away. You have to remember even if you're trying to help, this is a chikd and you're a strange adult, you can do some damage if they don't fully understand what's going on.

Instagram models can make thousands of dollars in a week just because they have tons of followers and are photogenic...which is what modeling is. If they're making a living off it, then they're a legit model. Walking for fashion houses isn't the only definition of the word.

Yeah, but you should probably work on the assumption it's not going to end and put in some effort instead of saying "fuck it, if it doesn't end it's the next generation's problem" and continuing the shitty course.

You say how broke you are as an adult too. Basically, being a teenager is hands on practice for being a tired, broke adult.

Seriously. Try finding women's clothing that's A) made of the right material for the weather, B) looks good on your body shape, and C) doesn't move around ever. Pretty much only exists in places that are out of my tax bracket to shop. If women's bra straps are all it takes to upset a guy, clearly that guy is too emotional to be allowed any shred of real responsibility. Back to the garage with you.
