That's just asking for trouble. There's debris in space. You don't want some gravity shield grabbing shit to hit against the hull. Sure, it's built to take it but safety precautions should always be taken.
My take on it was that there was a projected field of gravity around the ship that cause the bombs to gain momentum and continue following their path downwards. As for the pilot thing I would assume that was also a type of emitted field.
Yes, but to my knowledge they where capital ship exclusive. Not saying the technology didn't exist but the movie is so full of plot holes it can go unnoticed
.....pew pew doesn't make a sound in space to begin with. Can you imagine if these bitches saw episode 4? It wouldn't be the perfect Hero's Journey it's considered today.... shit... they'd be the kind of asshat's saying "Athena, Apollo, Posideon, Hades, Hera nor Ares are such bullshit... no way".
there's gravity everywhere in space, just because you can't sense falling because there's no air, doesn't mean you're not. objects in orbit are constantly falling to earth, just the rate of fall matches the curvature of the earth.
“Every ship, on both sides, has a device for creating artificial gravity ; which would push the bombs "down" through the bomber, and pull them "down" onto the target. In addition, it's possible the bombs have some kind of magnetic properties that would attract them to their target.”
“At the beginning of the film during the bombing sequence, a character is seen inside her ship with the doors open to allow the bombs to be dropped out of the ship. She does not have any kind of oxygen mask or supply, despite this sequence being set in space. However, all through the Star Wars films, there are openings into space that do not affect a ship's atmosphere. We see this in a New Hope in the Death Star hangar bays and in The Force Awakens when Poe and Finn steal the TIE Fighter. A thin magnetic shield is used to allow solid matter, but not gasses, to pass through it.”
