Mm, they worded it crustily. It's basically there for the expansion of the glass when pressure and temperature changes I believe. It wouldn't necessarily crack for sure without it, but it'd get hella worn and then likely crack, doing a death for everyone inside

The pen cap is bull crap. The hole is there so you can’t make a vacuum and get the cap stuck in the pen. It’s also to help it slide in easier.
