They're probably referring to their life in general. Like, theirs is the only birthday in the group of people they have to celebrate with who is in this situation every year.

If you had read beyond my first couple sentences, you would have seen the logic behind my reasoning. Men tend to use guns, whereas women tend to avoid mutilating their bodies so they try something like overdosing. This leaves the chance that they will mis-dose, survive, or that somebody will find them in time to save them. A simple discussion of suicidal tactics, and the first thing your mind sees (or maybe wants to see?) is sexism

Okay, I'll admit that first joke I made may have been in bad taste, but I show my true colors and say something I think was genuinely nice, and I get downvoted for it? I've completely given up on some people on this site

True, Yoda did throw his light saber through the chest of a clone. He then proceeded to jump atop said clone and brutally rip his saber out of his chest. What a badass.

While I don't doubt for a minute that you do indeed have beauty on the inside, everyone has beauty on the outside as well, to those who are able to see it

RAM - Random Access Memory
However there are plenty of acronyms that do not follow this rule, like SHIELD standing for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. SHIELD works how it does because it would be stupid NOT to pronounce it that way. I suppose you have a point, and the word a letter stands for should not determine pronunciation in the acronym itself. Look at it as a word instead, like with the SHIELD example. What is GIF spelled like? Gift. Is that word pronounced Jift? Nope, it's got a hard G. How about girl, or gild? Both hard G's. There are exceptions of course, like gist, because this is the English language we're talking about, but for a new term with no linguistic origin, it can be suspected that it follows common rules regarding our phonetic system of writing. I rest my case.

Everyone is complaining about there being more to the movie than the book, but they are using Tolkien's original manuscript for the movies, not just the book. There was a lot to Tolkien's story of The Hobbit that was never actually published. True, the necromancer in the south side story ft. Gandalf was merely mentioned in the book, but Tolkien had all that worked out in his unpublished notes and had plans to insert that story in a separate book, which never ended up happening. They may have accentuated certain aspects, giving characters more of a distinct personality, but nothing was added story-wise that Tolkien didn't himself write.

When paired with certain letters, g can make different sounds. However, GIF most likely uses that hard G due to similar words, like gild or gift, using it. There are exceptions to this rule, like gist, but for a recently coined term like GIF, it is dependent upon the phonetical rules followed for such general words that are not exceptions.

Newsflash: YOU don't give a fuck how it's pronounced. Others, however, obviously DO give said fuck.

It stands for Graphic Interchange Format, in which case a "hard G" is used in the word graphic. Thus, by standard rules regarding acronyms, it should be pronounced gif, whether the creator says so or not.

Humans kill more than anything, but we're not killer primates. Lions too, but they're not killer felines. They kill what they eat, same as us.
