That might be the case in some states but I have never heard of such a thing. People who have had that kind of conviction have the number of them listed in the top corner of their division of motor vehicles driver info response for law enforcement, or it could be obtained by looking at their driving or criminal record. It would be silly to designate it by the tag - what if the driver is not the vehicle owner or vice versa? And why make unavailable that entire series for tags?
