Regardless of how rotten the apples are, you are still getting an apple, like it or not. It makes more sense to vote for the lesser of two evils than not vote all because someone is going to win, no matter how bad they all are.

You are absolutely correct! In the grand scheme of things, your individual vote does not matter. What does matter is when 70% of the country thinks that and doesn't vote. Democracy is a social thing, and when people communicate and cooperate a lot of individual votes join together and they do matter.
