He's talking to a Native American and in American history the legend goes that thanksgiving was when the pilgrims and native Americans learned to work together and to celebrate after a long harvest had a big meal together. Although this is false because Americans were never fond of Native Americans and that they were always in conflict with each other over land disputes

Actually the last one is in Old English and was spoken up to 1150 and had a very large Germanic vocabulary which makes it look nothing like today's English. It is what Beoweulf (did I spell that right?) was originally written in and many other very very very old works of literature and the bible, when they started writing the bible in vernacular instead of just Latin. I have had to learn the Our Father in Old English and speaking it sounds a lot like grunting with all the different sounds and characters put together, which makes it tough for modern day English speakers to read and speak.
