Would you rather have 8-10 heroes who each get a chance to explain themselves, have character building moments, and epic shots of them being badass, or the 30 odd heroes that pop up in the comics, and each barely gets an introduction, much less backstory? There is a limit to how many character-intensive moments they can squeeze into a 2 1/2 hour movie, and they still have to have the fight scenes
