Yeah, I agree. That was more in regards to the idiocy of the headline.

I don't think it's inappropriate. I just don't think it was intentional. Or a big deal.

Why would anyone put a shirt on and think, "Ohemgee, this is so adorable! It shows my bra!"

The implication here is that she doesn't have any pictures of her dog. A person doesn't deserve a dog if they aren't gonna take 5 billion pictures of their adorableness.

But using make up liberally doesn't make you not yourself. Acting like someone you're not makes you not yourself. It shouldn't matter what a person chooses to put on their face. Just like it doesn't matter if a person gets a tattoo or piercings or tans or surgery or dyes their hair or cuts their hair or shaves their legs or wears certain clothes. None of us were born with any of these things, but it doesn't mean that we aren't being ourselves. All of it is simply a matter of feeling comfortable in your own skin and expressing yourself. If someone thinks you're fake just because you look a little different with make up on, that's their problem. As long as you make these changes and stay true to yourself, it should never be considered fake or deceptive or unacceptable.

But then again, choosing to wear make up is not deception, even if it makes you look like a whole other person.

John Green shit? None of his protagonists were broken down and waiting for someone to fix them. They were actually strong people who faced a lot of hardships and were able to overcome them. His books don't teach that sadness is beautiful. Looking for Alaska taught us to never give up. Even if straight and fast seems easy, it's not the real way out, and sometimes, even though it seems impossible, you have to stick it out to find the real way out of the labyrinth. Paper Towns taught us to make our own path, to look at the world and think that even though everyone else is doing one thing, it doesn't mean that you have to follow the same path. Katherine's wasn't even sad. And TFiOS taught us to enjoy what we have. Even if we're stuck in the worst place we can possibly be, we need to love people and enjoy life. Sure, John Green books are sad, but he isn't trying to teach us that sadness is beautiful; he's teaching us to overcome the hardships in our lives and enjoy ourselves.
