As an intelligent and reasonable American (I think this represents the majority of us really) I am so very tired of the "Let's bash Americans!" stream of posts on every site I visit. It's old, it's inaccurate, and it's profiling at it's worst. We can't help that the networks have created ridiculous shows that glorify some of the most absurd and embarrassing people they could possibly dredge up under the rocks and crevices in our country.

The misspelled words bother me as a Grammar Nazi but as a German Shepherd breeder, trainer, and animal behaviorist the majority of facts here is true. The only thing I would have to challenge is the obvious lack of knowledge by the poster regarding canine genetics (I am a canine genetics expert), inheritable temperament and personality traits, and the results of ignorant "backyard breeders" who breed dogs that are NOT breeding quality and therefore perpetuate dogs with "weak nerves" as well as allowing pups to leave at FAR too young (8 weeks is the youngest a pup should EVER leave it's dam and litter) which causes social issues later in life as pups learn valuable lessons about how to "be a dog" including proper pack behavior between 6 and 10 weeks of age.

LOL My husband worked for Hudson in Henagar, AL and they do new McDonald builds and renovations. He was laid off 5 months ago when everyone panicked about the economy. 2 Days ago he got a call from one of the sub-contractors that does all of the framing (carpentry) work for Hudson. They needed another hand on one of their crews so he left out this morning for South Carolina on a McDonald's renovation. Next job is in Kentucky and who knows where they'll go after that. The upside is the pay is great. The downside is he may not come home for a month at a time. :( Better than being broke though. LOL

OMG As a German Shepherd breeder who has 8 GSD's, 1 rescue Peke\? (I still say he's half Mogwai) mix named "Gizmo", and 2 rescue cats in the house as well as 4 feral cats who live under our house which we feed and water, this photo is heartbreaking to say the least. :(

They did a pretty good job with Stephen King's "The Green Mile". However, I agree, watching a movie based on a book that you've already read and loved is often a huge let down.

Brilliant. I would do something like that. Force myself to vomit all over them or something. Chances are they are going to kill you anyhow, so I say snot, pee, poop, and puke are all fair play.

I started reading Stephen King books as a teenager (I'm 46 now). His creative mind lures you into the world he's pieced together of the strange co-existing with the seemingly normal. And unlike most of the movies made from his books, the ending of his books are almost always jaw dropping and shocking (he's ended a few sort of like the Soprano's final episode) the good guy may or may not get the girl, the most endearing character in the entire book may not survive to the epilogue. That's what I loved about his books. Unlike so many authors, the endings of his books were not predictable. Nothing irritates me more than an author who has predictable endings (I read quite a few Dean R. Koontz books and while they were awesome, the endings were sappy)

Every. Fucking. Time. I now live all the way across the country from my mother and she still calls me when her computer or printer screws up (they are prehistoric in this day and age and she has enough money to buy a new PC and printer but why do that when this one still works....sometimes). When she calls she fully expects me to diagnose the problem and walk her through the steps to fix it. What follows is a conversation that rivals the infamous "Who's on First?" by Abbott and Costello.

Funny, I didn't find Igor, Gustav, Ernesto, and several others you mentioned anywhere in the Christian Guide to Baby Names. Huh. Maybe I just missed them. Also, this lady is not just an idiot, but an embarrassment. We have way too many people in positions of power or considered an influential force on a particular community of people who are all over the radio waves, television, News reports, and internet that are loud, ignorant, spewing absolute nonsense and doing nothing to help the image that the rest of the world has of Americans. I wish we could show them that these extremists are small in number and do not represent the majority of the population. Unfortunately it's these "sensationalistic" type of people the that media LOVES to show the world, and this gives them a very distorted view of what life in America is actually like.

Having been a live in caretaker for my grandmother who suffered from progressing dementia this timeline of paintings is absolutely heart breaking. It is just as difficult on them as it is on their family and loved ones. Those moments of clarity are fleeting but when they randomly occur, the fear, the absolute terror they feel is palatable. They know they are losing their minds and I cannot imagine how horrible it must be to go through this. Growing old terrifies me. At 46 you begin thinking about this stuff. At this point in my life so many family members and friends are no longer with us. I go through photo albums from my teens and early twenties and am gutted with the reality of how many people in those pictures are gone now. It can be a tremendous feeling of loss when you allow yourself to reminisce.

The MOST uniformed stream of blather I have EVER heard. Have you TRIED living on welfare??? I was a single mother 20 years ago who struggled to make ends meet and was on welfare for TWO years during which time I participated in the "Welfare to Work" program MANDATED by the state. MOST states in this nation have similar programs. The majority of people who get assistance in the USA are off by the second year and never sign up again. PLEASE check facts before posting propaganda and opinion!!
