Because we are creatures here along side the other ones. No other species is arrogant enough to. They know to coexist when all we know is to own. We only live here, rent space if you will. Our species isn't above any other, though we might think it. You can't own something that is so much more powerful and complex as the Earth. She owns us.

We don't own it. We aren't dominant. We are arrogant and destructive.

It's saying that humans think we own the earth and the creatures on it when we don't. We are all here and are all equal.
