Nowadays it's more complicated, but I can only speak to my experiences in Oahu, Hawaii, where I live. The islands are pretty americanized, though it's common knowledge that the annexation of the islands was illegal under international law, and in reality was occupation of a sovereign nation. There was never any democratic vote to join the U.S. and the monarchy was illegally overthrown. I will say most hawaiians (that I know) have some annoyances with the over-tourism and the way things are run here, but mainly appreciate what being apart of America does for us.

Here in hawai'i, it's an important part of our history. Native Hawaiians were friendly to the first outsiders to arrive here. (James Cook and his crew). Hospitality is very important in the native culture. Cook construed this to mean he was seen as a god, which isn't true. There was some resentment from the locals, as he apparently overstayed his welcome and took advantage of their kindness. But he eventually left Kauai, where he first landed. This happened again when he returned, this time to Oahu, but when his ship needed repairs soon after departing again, he came back to Oahu, and demanded the locals repair his ship. There was a lot of tension. It's reported that a small group took one of his small ships. He attempted to kidnap and ransom the king, after which he was attacked and killed by a chief.

We have to be careful about spreading misinformation. Famousone thought I was spreading misinformation, and rightly called me out on it. I'm glad they did that without attacking me. I should have backed up that particular claim with the source in the first place.

Actually, hormone blockers can be reversed: "If a child later decides not to transition to another gender, the effects of puberty blockers can be reversed by stopping the medication. Another function of puberty blockers is that it gives the future transgender individual a smoother transition into their desired gender identity as an adult."-
American Academy of Pediatrics. September 2016. p. 11. "To prevent the consequences of going through a puberty that doesn’t match a transgender child’s identity, healthcare providers may use fully reversible medications that put puberty on hold."

how they want to live. Again, when we're talking about transitioning when it comes to children this young, it doesn't mean anything medical. The kid isn't doing anything permanent, but his father won't let them dress or use the name they prefer, and the government is affirming that. I don't think the government should get to decide what name a child is called at school. This may be a victory for the father and his beliefs, but based on psychological studies on trans children, we know that the actions of the father are harmful, and this is not a victory for the wellbeing of the child. Sources: (The BBC gives the best overview in my opinion)
ok it won't let me add URLs but if you google most of the information it'll come up

Reading more about this, I have to say that (in my opinion) the Dad shouldn't have gotten his way. The kid's mom, siblings, teachers, doctors, school counselors, classmates, have all said that they consistently for years have wanted to live as a female. The Dad is the only one who says otherwise. Mind you, they aren't making any medical transitions at this point. No transition surgery is legal until 18, when the kid is making the decision on their own anyway. At the age of twelve, you would potentially put them on hormone blockers, to TEMPORARILY delay the onset of male puberty (which is noted by psychologists to be very emotionally destructive to transgender youth). The ruling basically means that the kid doesn't get to wear the clothes they want or get called the name they want at school, which I'm not sure the government should really have that much a hand in anyway, as long as school clothes are "appropriate" and whatnot. There are so many witnesses INCLUDING THE KID saying this is

You can find friendly people running casual chess clubs anywhere! Or painting classes are really fun, usually theres some kind of lesson where they teach you a specific painting. Otherwise local parks and art muesums usually have some kind of fun event. I'd most reccomend checking your local community college for something fun, sometimes they have weird out-of-the-box courses, like beekeeping!

As an American who currently lives in Italy, I will say that the pizza here is SOOOO amazing, but this picture isn't completely right, but closer to the "real" Italian version than most American styles of pizza are

I know being politically correct is annoying sometimes, but it's literally that people are trying to be nicer. It's a good thing to strive to be a better person, even if it gets a little suffocating and annoying

Even though I'm not necessarily a Kardashian fan, you have to admit turning one sex tape into a giant franchise is pretty impressive business acumen.

It's fine if you don't agree with someone's outfit or even if you hate the outfit because it's skimpy or whatever. But saying you hate the person in the outfit is a bit much. But it's fair to say that it might leave a bad impression on you, but maybe not as far as to say you HATE a person for simply what they're wearing
