We are talking about a time long long lost. And not only dinossaurs, but microorganisms, fishes (sort of, i guess) reptiles, plants, whole ecosystems. Which remains were too fragile to survive time.

The bones, when not completely disappeared, are broken, twisted or simply unrecognisable. Scientifics normally don't just jump into a perfectly conserved t-rex, well tagged and all that. They may find a tiny little part of a forearm, teeth or a part of the tail.
