Do you think a highly competitive multinational mega corporation that pays talented people many times the standard salary, and relies heavily in science and data driven decision, would exclude someone just because they're not a white male?

I'm not sure what your question means. If you mean do I think a powerful company would exclude talented individuals from their hiring preferences, that company being google, no. What I'm really surprised is apparently the individual who wrote the manifesto hasn't been canned despite the inflammantory social politics around issues like these. It also surprises me that it comes from an employee from google, that wrote such a manifesto. It makes me think that perhaps a real discussion isn't a thing of the past anymore when it comes to diversity, and that through discussion, the true merits of both ends can share the spotlight. It was just a pleasant story I happened across that gave me a little naive hope for the future.

I think it's fucking stupid. You think Asian doctor stereotypes exist because hospitals want more diversity? What about the smart black lawyer type? The point is that you get those jobs because you are SKILLED. Not because you don't have enough black people or gay men to fill some quota. They should be their jobs first, identities second.

actually the black lawyer and Asian doctor stereotypes exist for specific reasons ingrained in what would amount to grandparents. Think about it.... Vietnam needed doctors.... Civil rights movement needed Lawyers. It's not nearly as insane as it sounds and the numbers reflect it when you look at the trends of who majors in what. Hispanics are the wild card.

Yes, but my point still stands. When they were needed, they earned the skills required to become lawyers and doctors. They didn't fill some quota. They did what they aspired to do.
