There are admins who give you feedback and so do other users. The sign-up process takes a bit as they have to verify your account, and they ask you input your address and everything, but I think it's worth it. They only email you if your post gets a comment and don't text/mail you anything. They have a workshop called Summer of Stories where they coach you through writing a book/story. I really recommend this site, even if you're not in high school, they may make you a Mentor. I'm a New Writer and adore the site. I signed up two days ago and already feel at home.

This site looks great and I don't want to discourage anyone from using it, but just be aware that they will own the copyright to anything you submit. Meaning they can publish, edit, etc. without your permission. I wouldn't want any inexperienced writers to be taken advantage of.

They can, but they give any rights back to the author. From their notice they have you read before signing up/editing anything: ", YWP will retain the copyright to all material submitted; HOWEVER, it immediately reassigns back to you, unconditionally, ALL commercial rights to do whatever you wish with your work without any need to contact us, credit us or pay us. AND should you ever have need to have the full copyright for an individual piece of work, merely contact us and we will so assign back to you that copyright. Again, this is a legal and sensible solution to our need to be able to easily and efficiently publish your work with external partners -- newspapers, magazines, other Web sites, etc." You just need to email them and they'll return it to you.

Yes, I read that too. My point is that any artist should be wary about someone else owning the rights to their works, and inexperienced people especially may not read or understand the terms they agree to. The site could put your writing in any publication or edit it any way they please without your consent and they're not clear about how easy it is to get your rights back (the email process could take days or weeks and you have to do it again for every single piece you submit).

Of course. I agree, I jusst hope people would understand everything there. You have to consent for them to publish; when you write something, you can click 'consider for publishing'? and if you don't, then they won't feature it anywhere. Though I do hate the email part, I'm happy they give us that freedom to revoke their publishing rights.
